I bought this body on a whim, not because I really needed it, but because it was really inexpensive. Like really. I paid the equivalent of US$ 825.- for it used, having found it in a local classified ad list. It was inexpensive because the original owner had managed to get the glass in front of the sensor scratched when cleaning it, but the images have no traces of any scratches at all. This is my first full frame digital SLR, and I'm looking forward to seeing what that can do when equipped with a bright prime.

A point&shoot camera that I really wanted and bought used as soon as the option was there. A real picture machine and probably one of the best cameras I ever owned. I use it a lot!

I bought the D5100 primarily to play around with video. It has OK video performance and an articulated LCD, which makes it great for the purpose. I have shot some video, but not really gotten started yet, but I have on the other hand shot tonnes of stills with this camera, which is much like my beloved D40, but just with a much better resolution and image quality.

My first digital SLR and easily on par with the fantastic Minolta 7 when it came to build and user interface, and an amazing camera at the time, but not quite able to keep up with the rapid development of digital cameras. With 6 megapixels from one of the first generation cropped format sensors, the resolution and in particular the high ISO performance wasn't impressing, and the camera soon lost ground to newer models offered by both Canon, Nikon and Sony who took over the Konica/Minolta camera production.

I buy the Nikon D300s body as a replacement for the D200, which has shot close to 40,000 frames in 2012. I also get the vertical grip for the camera, and keep that mounted almost all the time. The D300s has shot about 15,000 frames in 2013 and is my day-to-day camera, which performs all photographic duties: indoors, action, location, studio, macro, whatever.

My first ever Nikon body, and a workhorse in the true meaning of the word. Robust, great to use, a real performer and an excellent image quality. This body has clicked about 70,000 frames in 2013 and is still going strong. A bit of rust and some loose rubber, but apart from that...
